Later that week.

“Sorry I’m late!” I huff in apology to Star and Lacy. I was supposed to be meeting the two blondes for lunch at twelve o’clock on the dot, but I’m just now getting here at twelve fifteen. Neither of the girls looks particularly bothered, both of them waving off my apology and greeting me with hugs and kisses on the cheek.

“We just got here too, and we went ahead and ordered your favorite!” Lacy says. “A tuna melt on rye, right? With fries.”

“Yep, and thanks!” I grin, taking my seat with a burst of excitement. I’m always happy to have a little girl time with Star and Lacy. It’s surprising because after leaving the Hotel Nova, I was sure I’d never see the two blondes again. But then, Barron reached out to them for lunch, and the four of us got together. Honestly, it was a lot of fun, and I felt guilty for judging them because of their bimbo personas. But I was definitely wrong to do so because Star and Lacy are so much more than that. I like being around the two girls, and they’re always up for some laughs.

“No problem,” Star says before wiggling her brows and smiling. “So, what’s got you running late anyway? Was lover boy keeping you busy this morning?”

“Maybe,” I sing-song, causing them both to “oooohh.” We all giggle and I shake my head at them as I let out a happy sigh. “No, really, we were just cuddling! But one of us was feeling a bit too clingy to let go for a while.”

“My bet’s on Barron,” Lacy says. “You two are so cute, though! How are things going between you guys, anyways? Everything’s good, right?”

“Yeah, everything’s perfect,” I smile brightly, twirling the ends of my hair between my fingertips as I think about my man. “I seriously can’t thank you guys enough for agreeing to go out on that date with Seymour a few months ago. It got him off my back, and that night was basically mine and Barron’s first date too. You know we were at the restaurant spying on you guys, right?”

The blondes giggle.

“Yeah, we know but no worries,” Lacy waves me off. “But speaking of Seymour, you know he still keeps trying to get us to go out with him, right?”

I pause.

“Really?” I ask, wrinkling my nose. “I can’t say I’m surprised because you’re beautiful women. But then again, this is Seymour Hinds. He’s kind of icky.”

“He’s really icky,” Star laughs. “But he refuses to quit asking for us. We keep telling him that it’s not going to happen. Hell, he can’t afford a date through City Girls, much less two working girls at once. But anyways, enough about Seymour—back to you and Barron!”

“Oh yes,” I let out a giddy laugh as I rest my hands on my warm cheeks. “Barron’s great. I can’t believe I was lucky enough to meet him because he’s the perfect gentleman. He’s everything I’ve ever hoped and dreamed for in a man.
